The Care of Well Newborn

Catalog description

This purpose of this elective is to help the student understand the delivery of care to the health newborn by identifying the series of events the neonate goes through from birth until discharge. The student will perform assessments of newborns using history, physical exam, and routine screening procedures. S/he will als identify resources for appropriate delivery of care to the acutely sick infant and make decisions for when a higher level of care is required. Limit 2 students - Dr. Prieto . (2 or 4 weeks)
