Catalog description
This course is designed to give the student a working knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCSA) compliance issues. It will present an overview of rules, eligibility, bylaws, and practices and procedures of the NCSA. The course provides a thorough study of the governing structure, rules, and legislative process within the NCSA. Examines compliance issues within a collegiate athletic department, including drug testing, self-reporting, academic progress rate (APR), and student-athlete eligibility. Examining and analyzing the bylaws, policies, and procedures of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCSA) is a the heart of the course. Students will be introduced to specific cases to develop a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the NCSA, what it is, and how it functions.
