Catalog description

This course provides an immersive clinical experience introducing students to foundational skills in risk reduction, injury and illness prevention, and health literacy as outlined in BOC Domain 1 of Athletic Training. Under the supervision of a clinical preceptor, students will participate in the development and implementation of strategies that promote safe participation, identify potential hazards, and support overall wellness. Emphasis is placed on preventive screening, environmental and equipment safety checks, patient education, and communication techniques that empower patients to make informed health decisions. Students will begin applying these principles in real-world clinical settings under the supervion of their clinical preceptor.
