1 section
Catalog description
Psychology became a specialized field of study in the 1960’s as part of an effort to enhance legal process and justice outcomes. In recent years, concerns about wrongful convictions, false confessions, and use of “junk science” in the courtroom has fueled an interest in psychological and legal aspects of high stakes rulings. Major landmark cases and the social science research which shaped U.S. history in this area will be discussed and debated in this course. TSI Restriction(s): Reading, Writing, and Math
