Genres in Creative Writing

Catalog description

This course asks students to attend to the particular needs and parameters of genre for the craft of writing. How do genres create boundaries and expectations for writing, and how might those boundaries be porous? To what artistic and rhetorical ends serve genres? Students will answer these questions by studying, and writing in, creative genres such as fiction, poetry, drama, and/or creative nonfiction. TSI Restriction(s): Reading, Writing, and Math
