Catalog description

This course will introduce students to foundations for the work of the Language, Literature, and Arts majors including but not limited to cultural studies, critical ethnic studies, language studies, literary studies, and rhetoric and composition. Students will analyze and produce texts across a variety of genres, media, cultures, and languages, and engage in dynamic critical conversations. Students will also learn effective methods of scholarly research, current strategies for finding and using sources, and terms and concepts fundamental to textual analysis. The course will also provide opportunities to apply this knowledge to community and professional contexts beyond the university. Because this class is Writing Intentional, we will focus on writing processes, you will complete multiple writing assignments, both low and high stakes, and you will have ample opportunities to revise in response to peer and instructor feedback. Your final assignment will be a digital portfolio in which you present your work and reflect on your development as a composer and thinker. TSI Restriction(s): Reading and Writing
