Practicum: Literacy Leadership

Catalog description

This course provides experience in literacy leadership. Practicum students are expected to provide instructional support to students and professional development to teachers in a public school accredited by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) or other school approved by the TEA for this purpose. Practicum students will be required to complete a minimum of 160 hours combined in pre-K, elementary, middle, and high school settings, as reading specialist certification encompasses PK-12. The Reading Specialist (RSP) certification recommendation is contingent upon successful completion of the practicum, which must include the approval of the university field supervisor and district site supervisor.
