Catalog description

This course prepares future teachers to address literacy development for learners in other languages. Students will analyze theoretical underpinnings of literacy development in a second or foreign language, explore strengths and needs that language learners bring to the classroom, and apply instructional reading and writing strategies. An emphasis of the course is on developing instructional procedures for teaching a foreign language along with developing oral language. TSI Restriction(s): Reading, Writing, and Math
