Catalog description

This course studies the diversity of the bacterial world, including the array of metabolic pathways used by different species of bacteria to inhabit a wide range of environments. Emphasis will be on mechanisms of controlling gene expression in prokaryotes, biochemical pathways of energy production and consumption, culture techniques and diagnostic methods, and use of bacteria in research.
