This course examines contemporary issues facing Queer and Trans communities, analyzing how social norms, institutional policies, and cultural narratives shape experiences of gender and sexuality. Students will explore the impact of restrictions on gender-affirming care, the policing of identity and expression, and the broader sociopolitical forces influencing LGBTQ+ rights and visibility. Drawing on Queer and Trans theory, intersectionality, and activist scholarship, the course investigates how resistance, community organizing, and mutual aid challenge systemic oppression and reimagine futures of justice and liberation.
