Prerequisite: PHY 3423 and PHY 4263 , or consent of instructor. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental concepts of nuclear and particle physics, exploring the building blocks of matter and the forces that govern their interactions. Students will have the opportunity to delve into the structure of atomic nuclei, nuclear decay processes, and the principles of nuclear reactions. Key topics include: the fundamental forces: strong, weak, electromagnetic, and gravitational interactions; the standard model of particle physics: quarks, leptons, bosons, and their interactions; techniques for particle detection and analysis, including accelerators and detectors; applications of nuclear physics in medicine, energy, and technology; and current research trends and open questions in the field. Through a combination of lectures and problem-solving sessions, students who successfully complete this course will have gained a solid foundation in both theoretical and experimental aspects of nuclear and particle physics. This course has Differential Tuition. Course Fee: DL01 $75.
