Prerequisite: NDRB 3433 , BCH 3303 or equivalent course, or permission of instructor. This course is a study of ion transport across membranes and how it mediates cellular activity in electrically excitable cells. Topics include the molecular structures of ion transporters, voltage-gated, ligand-gated, mechanically-gated, and metabotropically stimulated channels, gap junctions, and channel regulation by membrane remodeling. (Formerly BIO 5833 and NDRB 6313. Credit can only be earned for one of the following: BIO 5833, NDRB 6313, or NDRB 5833 .) This course has Differential Tuition. Course Fee: GS01 $90.
