Prerequisite: MUS 2263 . An advanced study of innovation in the business of music, including historical examination of social trends, technological advances, legal issues, and commercial practices that have influenced the development of the music industry in both the fine arts and popular culture. Strategies for career building in the music business are explored with an emphasis on knowledge and skills that support entrepreneurial activities in music. The course will explore two pillars of successful entrepreneurship in the arts: 1) embracing the creative process and the notion of developing a person's singular artistic voice, and 2) equipping oneself with essential applied skills in the area of new media, portfolio building, writing, and public speaking. Generally offered: Spring of even-numbered years. Course Fees: LRLF $10.27; STLF $18.48; DL01 $75.
