A historical and cultural survey of hip hop from its beginnings to current global strongholds and trends, with a focus on critical listening, significant artists and songs, technological developments, recording industries, musical aesthetics, and social contextualization of these works and styles. May be applied toward the Core Curriculum requirement in Creative Arts. Course Fee: LRC1 $12; LRLF $10.27; MC01 $75; STLF $18.48.
