This course examines the social and cultural history of health through the lens of history. By exploring a series of case studies and historical sources, it considers the short- and long-term ramifications of notions of health, disease, and public health crises across time and geographic space. Students who complete this course will have the analytical skills necessary to better evaluate the place of disease and medicine in modern culture.
