Prerequisites: Admission to the Teacher Certification Program, completion of CI 4353 , CI 4403 , ECE 4203 , and LTED 3823 ; field experience required; may not be taken concurrently with CI 4353 , CI 4403 , ECE 4203 , and LTED 3823 ; RESTRICTED COURSE: advisor code required for registration. Corequisite: CI 4303 . Course is designed to familiarize students with a variety of literacy (reading and writing) programs (and how those programs support the science of teaching reading and writing) and to implement differentiated reading and writing pedagogy to support literacy development in various contexts (individual, small group, and whole-class). Students will learn to administer, interpret, and use assessments to gain a holistic view of students' strengths and areas of need to inform instruction. This course must be completed with a grade of "B-" or better for it to serve as a prerequisite for CI 4621 Clinical Teaching: Early Childhood-Grade 6.
