Prerequisites: Admission to the Teacher Certification Program, ECE 3143 , ECE 3603 , EED 3303 , EED 3110 , ESL 3033 , and EDU 3002 . Corequisites: Pre-Clinical Year Semester 2: ECE 4203 , ECE 3313 , LTED 3823 , EED 3220 , and ESL 3003 . Designed to familiarize students with quality children's books from diverse cultures that can be used for aesthetic, personal, social, and critical purposes in EC-6 classrooms. A focus on the features of different genres and formats of children’s literature and strategies for using these genres and formats to support both literacy instruction and instruction across the curriculum. This course must be completed with a grade of "B-" or better for it to serve as a prerequisite for CI 4353 , CI 4403 , and LTED 4503 . Field experience required. Generally offered: Fall and Spring.
