An overview of fundamental MIS concepts within a framework for describing and analyzing managerial/organizational information needs. Includes coverage of hardware and software tools, information structures, various types of information systems, and formal problem-solving techniques. Issues related to organizational controls, security, globalization, collaboration, and ethics as a result of changing technologies are discussed. A variety of assessment methods will be assigned to illustrate the use of specific tools and techniques for problem-solving. (Formerly IS 3003.
