This course explores the history of East Asia from 1945 to the present, focusing on issues such as nation-building, state-society relations, the complex dynamics of nationalism, territorial disputes, and border conflicts. Students will have the opportunity to analyze how historical narratives, political ideologies, and geopolitical tensions have shaped national identities and territorial claims in the region, including China, Japan, Korea, and neighboring countries like Vietnam and the Philippines.
