Study of selected issues in the history of women in Mexico, with focus on both texts and contexts. Texts may include writings and artistic works by Mexican American as well as Mexican women. Contexts may include the eve of the Spanish invasion and the conquest era, native and colonial societies in the colonial era, independence and the upheavals of the nineteenth century, the Mexican Revolution, the sweeping social and economic changes of the twentieth century, migration to the United States, globalization, and the drug war of recent years.
