Survey and analysis of economic growth and social change in different parts of the world, with an emphasis on less-developed countries. Topics may include defining development, modernization and neo-liberalism, structuralism and post-development, major theories of development and underdevelopment, poverty and inequality, sustainable and grassroots development, cultural globalization, and hyper-urbanization.
