An exploration and analysis of the planning and development processes of cities and urban regions. Themes and issues may include the history of urbanization; planning tools such as the master plan, zoning and subdivision regulations; property rights and the legal basis for planning and real estate development; economic development; planning and politics; historic preservation and urban design; growth management and sustainability; environmental issues; housing and social issues; and transportation and land use.
