Prerequisite: CHE 1103 , CHE 1121 , GEO 1103 , GEO 1111 , and MAT 1093 . A survey of geochemical processes and the distribution of elements in the earth. Application of geochemical methods and data to the solution of geologic problems. Students taking this class will learn to describe the role that modern geochemistry plays in all aspects of Earth Sciences, solve geochemical problems using geochemical data sets, and explain geochemical processes that take place at depth and at the surface of our planet. This course will develop the foundation of other advanced-level courses such as geochronology, petrology, aqueous geochemistry, chemistry of the solar system, and aqua planetology.
