Explores the geology of the national parks of North America, including evaluation of the relationships between plate tectonics, the rock cycle, and landscapes preserved within our national parks. This course highlights the formation of the North American continent through examination of the iconic formations of the North American national parks including The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Yosemite, and others, with a special look at the geology of the two national parks in Texas. May be applied toward the Core Curriculum requirement in Life and Physical Sciences. May not be applied to a major in geology. Generally offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.
