An introduction to basic concepts in biology through the study of the major lineages of invertebrate and vertebrate animals, with emphasis on the structure and function of organ systems in an evolutionary context. Topics covered will include basic cell structure and function, genetics, systematics, evolution, animal groups, and selected body systems. Functional interactions of animals with humans and the environment will also be studied. May apply toward the Core Curriculum requirement in Life and Physical Sciences.
