Catalog description

Developing Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) is a course designed to assist students (teacher candidates) in acquiring and applying the skills of integrating content and pedagogy in the subject areas and grade levels they are seeking certification. PCK involves deep knowledge of students, subject matter knowledge, theory, and curriculum design. This includes assessing the needs and strengths of students, the content to be taught, and choosing appropriate teaching strategies that will best represent the content and support student learning. The use of PCK invites students (teacher candidates) to actively bring together theory, research, and practice for classroom teaching during their clinical experiences. This course also aims to support students (teacher candidates) in developing their skills and knowledge for teacher certification assessments. Generally offered: Fall. Course fees: LRH1 $20.54; STSH $30.81.
