Advanced study of qualitative research methods in a laboratory mode that emphasizes the applied and computing aspects of qualitative research design, data analysis, and presentation of findings. The goal is to enable students to use computers effectively in the analysis of qualitative (text) data, and to enhance their understanding of interpretive research methods and designs. Lectures, demonstrations, discussions, hand-on work with software and data, and readings will be the main class activities. Students will be required to complete a pilot research project.
