This survey course emphasizes both the theoretical and applied nature of health communication studies. Spanning different approaches and such contexts as patient-caregiver relationships, social support, socio-cultural dimensions of health and health disparities, the role of media and public policy, as well as local and global influences on health, students will gain knowledge to assist them in analyzing and developing innovative, ethical, and effective health communication strategies.
