Prerequisite: Admission to the Teacher Certification Program. This course includes a Field Experience in a local public school. A study of methods, materials, and processes for teaching social studies in secondary school settings. Topics include the effective implementation of social studies curriculum and standards, pacing, and planning for instruction, authentic formative and summative assessment, and cultivating cultural and critical competence. Special emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary and multicultural connections using integrated and thematic unit planning. This course is limited to students enrolled in the MACI+T program.
