Catalog description

Prerequisite: A grade of “C-” or better in BME 1002 , BME 3373 and CS 2073 . This interdisciplinary course merges the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Generative AI, with applications tailored to Biomedical Engineering (BME). Students will explore the foundational concepts of NLP and Generative AI and learn how these powerful technologies can be applied to solve complex problems in BME. Focusing on the integration of AI-driven approaches such as machine learning, deep learning, and generative models, the course emphasizes their application in processing and generating biomedical and engineering-related text data, documents, and even synthetic data. Students will learn how to leverage generative models like Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), Variational Autoencoders (VAEs), and large transformer models to enhance innovation in biomedical engineering applications, such as personalized medicine, medical imaging, and smart systems design. This course has Differential Tuition.
