Prerequisite: BBL 7123 or consent of instructor. Exploration of literacy development from social and cognitive perspectives. Topics may include simultaneous acquisition of first and second language literacy; emerging literacy in second language; adult literacy; reading and writing in a second language; the relationship of biliteracy and second language literacy to language maintenance and shift.
