This course is an introduction to image culture and the role the photographic image plays in the creation and subversion of culture. With the introduction of videos, readings, and discussions on the historical and contemporary uses of photographs, students will gain an understanding of the power of the photographic image as a powerful tool in today’s society. Through exercises that develop critical thinking skills, students will learn how to analyze, interpret, evaluate, and question photographic images.
