This multifactorial population health training focuses on addressing the oral healthcare needs of resettled populations while examining key issues shaping local and global healthcare environments. The training provides an immersive experience that encourages students to engage in vulnerable, community-centered approaches to preventive oral healthcare. Students will participate in an interprofessional, collaborative setting and work closely with interpreters, which is an essential component of effective clinic management and culturally responsive care. Using a patient-centered communication model, students will strengthen their provider-patient interactions, treatment-planning skills, and support patients in developing self-management skills. They will also disseminate e-learning oral health messages and provide tailored guidance to promote oral health. This outreach bridges the gap between the theoretical foundations taught in DS1 Clinical Prevention Courses and the practical delivery of preventive care in diverse community settings.
