Catalog description

This innovative interprofessional, community-engaged learning (CEL) course is designed for dental students to collaborate with select medical and nursing students in a structured, team-based environment. The course promotes provider accountability by integrating meaningful service-learning experiences and aligning with the core competencies of interprofessional education. Key learning components include ethics, leadership development, logic-model training, intercultural communication, and interprofessional team building. Through this course, dental students gain practical experience working with peers from other health professions to advance their understanding of professional roles within a collaborative healthcare team. Students also examine drivers of health and apply principles of patient-centered care through a structured service-learning practicum.
