This course is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of the relationship between hormones and vertebrate animal behaviors. Students will be presented with an overview of endocrine physiology with topics such as stress, social behaviors, reproductive behaviors, sex specific behaviors and biological rhythms, with the goal of providing a comprehensive overview across species. Lectures will include fundamental physiological functions of reproductive and other systems with endocrine function. The course aims to blend targeted learning outcomes with critical thinking skills to enhance understanding of integrative systems biology to aid student success in biomedical research. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have knowledge of ethology, endocrinology and reproductive systems and a basic appreciation of how interactions between them integrate to maintain healthy function. Prerequisites include IBMS 5000 or at the discretion of the course director. Open for Cross Enrollment on Space Available Basis.
