This graduate-level course provides advanced knowledge of pharmacologic principles and their application to nursing practice. Students explore pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacogenomics in relation to the therapeutic management of major health conditions across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on evaluating the safety and effectiveness of pharmacologic interventions, with attention to individual patient variables such as age, genetics, culture, and socioeconomic factors to ensure fair access and outcomes. Students critically examine current evidence, legal and ethical considerations, and systems-level influences on pharmacotherapy. Students will develop competencies to support interdisciplinary collaboration, patient education, and advocacy for safe, evidence-informed medication use. Prerequisites: NURS 5338 .
