This graduate-level course prepares nurses with the knowledge and skills to lead, change and influence health policy to improve quality, safety, and access to care across healthcare systems. Students explore leadership theories, organizational behavior, and systems thinking to understand how nurses shape care delivery through ethical decision-making, strategic planning, and policy advocacy. Emphasis is placed on analyzing political, economic, legal, and sociocultural forces that influence healthcare outcomes, cost-effectiveness, and access to care. Students will evaluate system-level data, engage in policy development processes, and design evidence-informed strategies to promote transparency and accountability in nursing and healthcare.
