This graduate-level course prepares nurses to lead the evaluation and integration of health information systems and patient care technologies to improve patient outcomes while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency across healthcare settings. Students explore theories, policies, and literature about the design, selection, and use of informatics tools to support clinical decision-making, care coordination, and consumer engagement. Emphasis is placed on ethical, legal, and professional standards; usability and interoperability; and the evaluation of digital health tools and consumer health information. Students will analyze system-level data, assess risks, and propose strategies to optimize technology use, mitigate unintended consequences, and promote equitable access to digital health resources.
