This course provides a broad overview of the evolving use of imaging biomarkers brain disorders. Biomarkers are non-subjective (i.e., not symptom scores, disability scales, or diagnoses) anatomical, physiological, genetic, biochemical, or actimetric measurements that serve as quantitative indices of physiological processes, pathological processes, and responses to exposures or interventions. Biomarkers enhance rigor and reproducibility of health-care research and delivery. Federal agencies, including the FDA, NIH, CDC and IOM all promote the use of biomarkers.
