Catalog description

This course will introduce IPE to UT Health San Antonio (UTHSA) students through an elective course called, Health, Equity and the Environment that will focus on knowledge of environmental health disparities and skills that empower students to actively work to reduce disparities and promote wellbeing in their patients and communities. The purpose of this course is to determine the impact of the IPE course on developing IPE teams/teamwork and communication competencies relative to environmental health knowledge and its intersection with health equity. UTHSA students will complete IPE competencies pre-post surveys, a course evaluation and conduct a community service learning (CSL) activity to evaluate their understanding of IPE and environmental health and inequities.
