Catalog description

Students will examine human development from gametogenesis through organogenesis and fetal maturation. Emphasis is placed on morphologic changes during normal development and on the embryologic basis of congenital anomalies. Students will integrate developmental processes with adult gross anatomy and clinical correlations to understand how developmental disruptions lead to structural and functional abnormalities. Topics include developmental stages, fertilization, germ layers and their derivatives, body folding, and development of major organ systems. .
