Catalog description
This course is designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills to apply bioinformatics in genomic research. Topics covered include genetic variation analysis, transcriptomics, epigenomics, and high order chromatin analysis. The course will explore advanced computational techniques such as next-generation sequencing data analysis(RNA seq, ChIP seq, ATAC seq et al), genome wide association studies (GWAS), applications of machine learning in genomics, single cell omics, and multi omics data integration. Through a combination of lectures and hands on sessions, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of bioinformatics tools and methodologies to uncover genome structure and its implications for health and disease. Equivalent foundational coursework in biomedical sciences is required. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Course Director for students who demonstrate adequate preparation, such as MD/PhD students or others with equivalent background knowledge. Prerequisites: IBMS 5000 .
