Catalog description

A series of lectures and panel discussions introduce students to the structure as well as methods of financing dental care. Concepts of both traditional and recently evolved forms of dental practice also are discussed. The course provides an overview of the organization of the oral health system and the financing of oral health services. It examines factors that have had an impact on the development of the oral health service system in the USA. The course reviews access and organization of oral health care system. The course explores oral health system characteristics related to policy, personnel, population groups, functions, financing, reimbursement, structures, and outcomes. The course introduces key dental practice elements associated with quality assurance and quality improvement in health care. The course examines recent shifts and future population projections that affect the demand for oral health care services. The course discusses the supply, distribution, utilization, and financing of the oral health workforce and oral health care.
