Catalog description

This course focuses on the impacts (neurological, psychological, social/emotional) that various forms of trauma may have on students and the implications for teaching and learning. It covers frameworks for recognizing and responding to trauma-induced behaviors and long-term/in-the-moment trauma-sensitive practices that serve to foster physical/psychological safety and interpersonal connections. Students will gain knowledge of their ethical and legal role as mandated reporters and strategies for creating learning environments that support the well-being of their students and themselves.
