Teaching Literacy and Language Arts in Elementary Classrooms: This course examines the methods and resources for teaching literacy in the elementary grades. It focuses on the application of learning theories, methods of evaluation and consideration of individual differences, hands-on instructional practices, and knowledge of state and national standards for Language Arts. Students will design, implement, assess and critique literacy instruction, with an emphasis on effectively engaging emergent bilingual students (English Language Learners).
