Political Economy of Borders (3-0) This course provides an introduction to the field of international border economics with special emphasis on topics dealing with the border zone between Mexico and the United States. We will intensely examine the role of public policy on economic issues of the border. This includes, but is not limited to the following topics: international trade agreements, monetary policy, environmental and natural resource policy, immigration (legal and illegal), the underground economy, and economic development. Prerequisite: Department approval.
