Catalog description

This graduate-level course introduces Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) students to the principles of managing acute and critical illness in adult and older adult populations. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and treatment planning for high-acuity conditions affecting major organ systems. students will explore pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and management strategies for disease processes commonly encountered in acute care settings. The course integrates advanced pharmacology, diagnostic interpretation, and ethical considerations to prepare students for safe, effective care of patients with complex needs. Case-based learning and application of clinical guidelines will support development.
