Catalog description

This graduate level nursing course is the fifth in a series of six practicums courses for those preparing to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care. There is a didactic component focusing on preparing the student for the national certification through a board review. With the guidance of a preceptor, students learn to manage and formulate a plan of care for more complex, critically ill pediatric patients with emphasis on acute and chronic illnesses within the context of family, environment and culture. A minimum of 60 hours of supervised, direct patient care are required to demonstrate competency.
