Pediatric Acute Care IA Practicum (0-0-8) This graduate level nursing course is the first in a series of five practicum courses for those preparing to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care. With the guidance and supervision of a preceptor, students provide direct care and begin to learn to manage and formulate a plan of care for stable pediatric patients with acute and chronic illness within a variety of clinical settings. Students will also develop a plan of care for these children in context of family, environment and culture. A minimum of 120 hours of supervised, direct patient care are required to demonstrate competency.
