Adult Health Nursing I This course focuses on the care of adult and older patients with health alterations that require medical and/or surgical intervention. Emphasis is placed on the care of patients with alterations in selected body systems: endocrine, immune /hematology, integumentary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, and reproductive. Fluid, electrolytes, oncology, and perioperative concepts are addressed. Concepts of patient centered care, cultural sensitivity, informatics, safe practice, and professionalism are integrated throughout the course. Clinical experiences provide the student an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and implement safe patient care to adults and older adults in a variety of settings. Prerequisites: NURS 3205 , NURS 3401 , NURS 3604 , Departmental approval.
